Sufi Books, Books on Tasawwuf, Books About The Sufi Path
|

There is a great deal of information posted on the Spiritual-Health.Org web site concerning the Sufi Path (tasawwuf) and Islam. This material develops an array of ideas, essays, and reflections on issues and problems which are of relevance to Sufism,as well as the Islamic spiritual tradition.
There are some individuals (usually non-Muslims) who believe one can detach the Sufi path, or way, from Islam, and they wish to do so because they believe that Islam muddies the water with respect to the Sufi path, and, consequently, gets in the way of people grasping the beauty of the Sufi path. There are other individuals (usuaully Muslims) who are desperate to separate Islam off from Sufism for they feel that tasawwuf is a deviation from the teachings of Islam.
However, before agreeing or disagreeing with either of the aforementioned understandings concerning the mystical teachings and discipline with which the term "Sufi" tends to be associated, one should try to become clearer about what might be entailed by the meaning of Islam and Sufism. Conceivably, what some people mean by 'Islam' is not at all reflective of what authentic, Sufi masters may have understood by the idea of Islam. Moroever, perhaps, those who wish to divorce the Sufi perspective from Islam may understand something quite different about these terms than do actual,Sufi masters.
Moreover, one might even wish to raise questions about the authenticity of different teachings which are attributed to this or that version of the Sufi path and/or Islamic spiritual tradition. Indeed, one might ask what constitutes being an authentic Sufi shaykh -- that is, someone who is capable, God willing, of assisting an individual to struggle toward realizing one's essential, spiritual or mystical potential.
Lending concretness and specificity to such issues and questions can be accomplished in a variety of ways. The way in which Bilquees Press, a sister web site to Spiritual-Health.org, approaches these matters is through books on, and about, the Sufi Path, as well as by means of books which seek to explore Islam through the lens of Sufi teachings, and vice versa.
At Bilquees Press, such Sufi books range over a full spectrum of possibilities, from: Sufi novels and Sufi stories, to non-fictional treatments of: methodology, mystical discipline, the teachings of Sufi shaykhs (or spiritual guides), together with other kinds of literature which is written and published with individuals in mind who are interested in mysticism, esoteric knowledge, the Sufi perspective, as well as being interested in exploring the essential principles of morality and justice (collectively referred to as adab) that are intended to assist a person to struggle toward coming to understand important truths concerning the nature of self-realization -- that is, the bringing of essential -- that is, spiritual or mystical -- potential to fruition.
The material published by Bilquees-Press.com reflects a mystical perspective, and although many of the works are rooted in the Sufi spiritual tradition, there also are books - available and forthcoming - which are intended to serve the interests of people from different, non-Sufi, and non-Islamic, spiritual walks of life.
At Bilquees-Press.com we are committed to the principle which likens various exoteric (outer) and esoteric (inner) paths to an old-fashioned wheel with spokes running out to the rim from the hub. Viewed from the rim of the wheel, seemingly none of the spokes have anything to do with one another, and, yet, each spoke merges at a common center. Oftentimes, from an exoteric or outer, religious perspective, traditions appear dissimilar, but esoterically, they all go back to One Source.
Although the perspective of most of the books published through Bilquees Press have a Sufi flavor to them, and although such books are intended largely for an audience which is interested in the esoteric dimension of Islam (i.e., Sufism or tasawwuf), nevertheless, we at Bilquees Press have a fondness in our hearts for all expressions of authentic spirituality, mysticism, esoteric knowledge, and self-realization. Consequently, from time to time, God willing, we also will be publishing books which, hopefully, will appeal to those who are committed to other forms of spirituality or mysticism besides the Sufi path.
