17.)
Dont Sufi shaykhs and saints call upon their followers to worship them as idols?
In
reality, true Sufi shaykhs and saints do precisely the opposite. They, better than anyone
else, know that all praise is due to Allah.
A Sufi
shaykh has indicated that one always can tell a false teacher by the fact that such a
person will invite people to worship him or her, whereas the true servant of God invites
people to worship God and only God.
Sufi
shaykhs and saints know with certainty that we are the poor and God, alone, is the rich.
Everything good which comes to human beings comes by the blessings and leave of Divinity.
Nothing
comes by human agency. At most, human beings can serve as the locus of manifestation
through which Divine agency is given expression -- thus the miracles of Prophets and the
kiramat or wondrous deeds of the non-prophetic saints of Allah.
