Qur'an - Translation
Introduction

This virtual edition of the Qur'an is derived from a translation by M.H. Shakir. The graphic image of the Arabic calligraphy with the flower which is found in each surah or chapter of this Quranic E-book has been taken from Halal.Com Web Site, with the knowledge of the administrators of that Site.

Before you journey about this e-book, there are a few issues of navigation which should be brought to your attention. The Search function which is found in the tool bar near the top of each page of this .exe edition of the Qur'an is an excellent means of searching the entire text of the Qur'an, using either English keywords or short phrases in order to find various places within this virtual edition of the Qur'an which discuss or touch upon such topics and themes. When queried through a word or phrase, the built-in search engine will generate a list of candidates that match your inquiry. By clicking on one, or another, of the links that are produced by your search inquiry, you will not only be taken to the Page in question, but you be transported right to the place in the text where the word or phrase appears.

In addition, the initial list that is produced upon making a query provides a brief context of the textual material that surrounds a word on a given Page. In this way, it makes a search easier by helping to provide some indication of the context in which a word appears and, thereby, provides you with information as to whether, or not, this is the kind of thing for which you are looking.

Finally, if you find that the screen is too large, you can re-size it to a smaller window by right-clicking your mouse along the top of the Page. This will produce a drop down Menu with various options, and you should select "Restore", the top choice, which will down-size the window or screen through which you view the book. If, after down-sizing things, you find you prefer the larger screen size, then, just repeat the above process and the original screen size will be restored.
