Sorry, the following is for PC users only. If you own a Mac, you needn't bother with what appears below because the program in question only works with PC hardware.
The free Qur'an, which can be downloaded through the link provided a little further down this page, comes with a truly great tool. More specifically, although most e-books possess a search function, the search function contained in the program from which the following free Qur'an has been compiled is quite amazing.
If there is a term, word, or phrase in which one is interested (the program does tend to work best with single words, but, sometimes, one will find matches for certain phrases), then, when one enters the word in the search/find dialog box that appears when one clicks on the 'Search' function icon above the browser window, the results produced will feature the word for which one is looking along with surrounding text from the pages on which the word can be found.
In other words, a textual context is generated for each section of a page in which the sought-for word is found. One can use this context to determine if the section of a given page that contains the word in which one is interested is relevant to one's search.
This is a great time saver. Instead of having to go to a page and, read a passage before determining whether a given search result is relavant to one's interests, one often gets sufficient information with the search result listing to determine if the section which is being suggested is directely relevant to one's needs.
The series of possible candidates that are generated by a word search are listed down the left side of the page. One simply peruses the list, reads the textual context surrounding a given word search result and decides whether to check the actual page (for which a link is provided) or move on to the next candidate in the list of search results which have been produced for the word in which one is interested.
If one decides to check out a search result, one merely clicks on the link. One is not only taken to the indicated page, but one also is taken directly to the place on the page where the word is to be found which is another great time saver.
For ease of use and efficiency, I have not come across a better search-function tool in any program with which I have worked. There may be many opportunities to download a free Qur'an from the Internet, but very few of them will equip you with such a powerful search function tool.
If the foregoing sounds complicated, the actual search-function tool is really extremely easy to operate. All you need to do is use the search-function tool once, and you will immediately understand how this facet of the program works.
